What is YAP? The Youth Advocacy Program is made up of groups of students that want to make a difference with their peers and in the community by promoting healthy choices.
Where do we come from? In 1997, the State of Maine recieved monies from the tobacco settlement proceedings. Settlement money was then set aside to fund 31 Healthy Maine Partnerships. Healthy SV is Sebasticook Valley's local Partnership and is supported by Sebasticook Valley Hospital. YAP is a component of Healthy SV working to establish policy and environmental changes in our community, with specific goals to decrease/prevent substance abuse, encourage healthy eating and increase physical activity.
Why join? To have fun with peers, to share ideas, to plan events, to help the community, to make a difference and so much more!
